How we Fundraise:
Long before the actual build begins, Habitat is on our minds here at Semonin REALTORS®. Donations to the organization take place all year long through personal payroll donations contributed from staff members and deductions from agent's closing checks made as donations to Habitat. Our favorite way to fundraise though is our Dessert Auction held in April each year. Agents, staff, Semonin affiliates, and friends and family donate cakes, cupcakes, cookies, and even a cocktail party for 20 guests hosted by one of our agents. This year alone we raised $30,500 in less than two hours! The generosity astounds us each year.
About Habitat for Humanity®
Habitat for Humanity allows homebuyers to build a path towards financial stability and a brighter future. The homeownership program empowers low-income families to invest in themselves and their communities. A common myth is that Habitat gives away homes. The truth is the new homebuyers must go through a thorough step-by-step process before they even qualify for the program. Once approved, they must complete an intensive homebuyer education course, put in 400 hours of sweat equity, and they work side-by-side with Habitat and community volunteers to build their home. When the home is complete, the homebuyers become homeowners. Habitat sells homes at no-profit, and offers a 20-year, 0% interest mortgage.
