Why do you like working in the real estate industry?
“I love working in the real estate industry because I get to help people. Whether it is buying a first home, selling a home to downsize, or selling a parents’ home, it always brings me joy to help folks get through the process as smoothly as possible. I was raised with a very strong work ethic and have applied that throughout my life to every job or profession—whenever I am helping people.”
In what year did you become affiliated with Semonin Realtors®?
Why do you choose to affiliate your business with Semonin?
“I choose Semonin because of the values and ethics they believe in and practice daily. In addition, I choose them because they have such great support and education systems, as well as hundreds of agents who are willing to help each other so we all can reach our clients’ goals.”
What do you do to stay up-to-date/knowledgeable about the real estate industry?
“I constantly read literature about real estate, and I take classes to help me become a better agent. For example, I recently took the broker management class and am now moving on to the broker law class. I have also taken classes to earn my military relocation certification, along with my senior assistance certification.”
What did you do before you began working in real estate?
“Years ago, I started my career as a teacher assistant with special needs students, and then I obtained my teacher certification. I worked with special needs students, teaching adapted physical education, and I taught elementary students. I was a graduate teaching assistant at the University of Louisville, and after obtaining my master’s degree, I taught part time for the university. I also obtained my Rank I in counseling and psychology while serving as the department head for Health Services and the Health Promotion Schools of Excellence program. I retired in 2015 and decided to get my real estate agent license.”
Who is your immediate family?
“I have been married to a wonderful man, Tom Ciarroccki, for 30+ years. I have a son, Jay Leisten, who also is a Semonin REALTOR®. We obtained our license together! My daughter is Lindsey Ciarroccki and she works at a ski resort in Utah.
What do you enjoy doing in your free time?
“I love to play golf and the card game Euchre, garden, bowl and spend time with friends and family.”
What is the best piece of advice you’ve ever received?
“My precious mother always told me and my siblings not to judge people and to put ourselves in their shoes. The other best piece of advice was from my caring and strong father. He told us if we can't say something nice about someone, don't say anything at all.”
What is your favorite book/type of book? Why?
“I like travel or do it-yourself books. I am always learning and growing my knowledge as I read them.”
What is your favorite movie/type of movie? Why?
“I like romantic comedies. You can get a good laugh and a good cry all in one!”
What is your favorite song/type of music? Why?
“I like oldies for the most part. ‘Wind Beneath My Wings’ by Bette Midler is my favorite song because, over the years, many people have been the wind beneath my wings—during good and bad times.”
If you could wave a magic wand, what one thing would you most like to change in the world?
“I would love to have a magic wand so I could put a spell on people, and everyone would be caring and loving toward each other.”
What are two or three items on your Bucket List?
“I love game shows, so one of my bucket list items would be to appear on a game show. Another would be to make hole in one on the golf course. I’d also like to bowl a 300 point game!”
If you could have dinner with anyone, living or deceased, who would it be? Why?
“I would have dinner with my mom and dad. If I could just have that one more time, I would be so very grateful!”

“Love, because it is so important for everyone to feel some sort of love.”
What is your least favorite word? Why?
“Hate, because of what it represents.”
