The growth of Oldham County initially boomed in the 1970s when I-71 was completed between Cincinnati and Louisville. Oldham County is located just northeast of Louisville (less than 25 miles) via I-71. Its award-winning school system and high per capita income level draws families and businesses to the area, leading Oldham County to be one of the fastest growing counties in the state. With sweeping views of the Ohio River, rolling landscapes, and meticulously manicured neighborhoods and properties, the area is also known for its picturesque scenery.

Buckner
Buckner is the city that gives residents every opportunity to be active. Along with Oldham County Home School, Buckner features indoor and outdoor soccer fields, the county's only aquatic center and YMCA complex, convention center and park.

Crestwood
Crestwood has developed quickly over the years and is now a thriving commercial hub with a plethora of shops, businesses, restaurants, and other services. The city is also offers a broad selection of residential housing, ranging from modest homes situated on several acres to substantial neighborhoods with large family homes.

Goshen
With a population of less than 1,000, Goshen is a small community with tons of natural beauty. It is nestled between scenic Highway 42 and Harmony Lake and is known for its many horse farms and 

LaGrange
LaGrange is Oldham County's largest city as well as the county seat. It is a town full of historic charm with its most unique feature being the quaint shops and restaurants clustered along the railroad tracks that run through the center of town. Lagrange has a friendly vibe and diverse housing options.

Pewee Valley
Pewee Valley is a charming community, rich with historic architecture and a friendly and tranquil atmosphere. With a small population of roughly 1,300 people, Pewee Valley is a prime example of what many people would call "small-town America". An appreciation for arts and culture can also be felt in the area with the Little Colonel Playhouse in the center of town, and various outdoor summer concerts and other neighborhood celebrations.

Prospect
Prospect straddles the Jefferson-Oldham County line and is easily accessible from I-71 and I-265. With attractive subdivisions, grand estates, and upscale housing developments, as well as quaint cottages and log cabins, Prospect is a uniquely desirable community. Mature trees, lush landscapes, and breathtaking river bluffs demonstrate the community's environmental sensitivity.

Westport
Situation on the banks of the Ohio River, Westport is a quaint river town with a relaxed atmosphere. The town's old-fashioned general store, charming old homes, and unique buildings give Westport some character that reflect a simple, easy pace lifestyle.

Oldham County Schools ranks among the highest-performing school district on various academic achievement and state assessments, receiving a Distinguished rating and Kentucky's highest scoring county school district in 2012.
