Henry County, KY

Neighborhoods Utilities Schools Healthcare

An easy drive up I-71 about 35 miles from downtown Louisville is Henry County. Being only an hour from Cincinnati as well, Henry County is easily accessible by two major metropolitan areas, but its natural rural landscape offers a calm and quiet atmosphere. Rolling hills of Kentucky farmland make up a large part of the county's topography, giving the area a rich agriculture heritage that is celebrated in many ways, from the bustling farmers market every Saturday morning to the annual Henry County Harvest Showcase in July that attracts thousands. Water adventures are also popular in Henry County with fishing and boating on the Kentucky River and Lake Jericho. Henry County's small town, friendly vibe, prime location, and affordable housing market are all contributing factors to the area's growing population.

HENRY COUNTY NEIGHBORHOODS

New Castle
Founded in 1798, New Castle is one of the oldest cities in the state of Kentucky and with approximately 1,000 people, it is also one of the smallest. New Castle, the county seat of Henry County, is primarily a residential area with historic old homes near the town's preserved Main Street, as well as a variety of subdivisions. Homes and buildings in the town give a glimpse of its rich architectural history and being a rural community, it is as common to see a tractor on Main Street as it is to see a car.

Eminence
Eminence, the largest city in Henry County, has a rich history and unique attractions. The town got the name "Eminence", which literally means "an area of high ground", from being the highest point on the railroad line between Louisville and Lexington. The railroad, which carried bourbon throughout Kentucky is now gone but the city still offers the same wonderful views of the countryside and numerous housing options. Eminence is also home to the world's largest manufacturer of loudspeakers and the state's only Renaissance fair.

Campbellsburg
Home to several of the area's major businesses, Campbellsburg is a great place to live and work. Its central business district was rebuilt after a devastating tornado destroyed much of it in 1974. Campbellsburg is a small town that many residents describe as being quiet, comforting, safe, and easy to call home.

Pleasureville
On the edge of Henry and Shelby County is the quaint, one-stop-light town of Pleasureville. The community offers affordable housing options in a rural country environment. The majority its residents would all agree that the name Pleasureville simply fits the town, given that it is a pleasure to call it home.
